*Bridges Backpack Program/Hi-Liner Pantry Summer Food Assistance. Free to everyone and offering a summer grocery store for families to come and grab a variety of lunch and dinner foods items and snacks. *The Barnes County Dispatch begin monthly testing of the Disaster/ Storm Sirens in Barnes County The second Tuesday of each month through October BC Dispatch will set off sirens for the following agencies: Valley City, Fingal, Rogers, Sanborn, Dazey and Wimbledon. All other agencies are responsible for setting off their own weather sirens during the test time. This is only for testing purposes. For more information call 701-845-8187. The Barnes County Dispatch is located at 2371 7th St SE in Valley City.

*Barnes County Veterans Service Office Veterans Coffee Hour welcomes BC Veterans to a meet and greet with other area veterans every third Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Office is located at 575 10th St SW, Suite #7, Valley City (same building as Sheriff’s Office). Refreshments and treats will be provided.

*Barnes County Museum, is open and welcoming visitors from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. The museum is located at 315 Central Ave N, Valley City. Call Wes at 701-8450966 for tour and additional information.

*Valley City Chamber of Commerce and Department of Motor Vehicles offices 253 Central Avenue North, Suite 101, downtown Valley City. DMV hours of operation are 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. For more information call Chamber 701-845-1891, DMV 701845-3812.

*St. Catherine Quilters make quilts for those in need, meeting every Thursday from 1-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the basement gym of St. Catherine School. All are welcome, no experience necessary and supplies are provided. Questions call Christine 701-8402580 or Lela 701-8458352.

* Celebrate Recovery, a christ centered 12-step program for every hurt, habit or hang-up meets 6:15 p.m. free will donation meal, 7 p.m. large group, 8 p.m. small group with childcare available at Connect Church, 320 Central Avenue South in Valley City. *AA Fellowship Corner Meeting Schedule: Monday 7 p.m., Wednesday noon, Friday noon, Saturday 8 p.m. For more information call 701-845-3705. The meetings are held at 320 2nd Ave SE in Valley City.

• The Transfer Station will be closed Saturday, May 27th and Monday, May 29th in observance of Memorial Day. The Public Works office will be closed Monday, May 29th for Memorial Day. Monday’s route will be picked up Tuesday. Tuesday and Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will follow the regular pick-up schedule.

• Barnes County Veterans Service Office invite all a retirement celebration wishing transportation driver Ron Petersen well on his retirement. • Memorial Day Service information for the Valley City, Eckelson, Sanborn, Fort Ransom, Lisbon, Sheldon, Gwinner, McLeod and Fargo events will be listed in the May 26-28 Times-Record Weekend Edition.

• Barnes County Courthouse will be closed in honor of Memorial Day, Monday May 29, 2023. Sheriff and Barnes County Jail will remain staffed.

• Barnes County Senior Citizen Center will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

• Tower City Spring Clean Up will be held May 31June 7. No batteries, yard debris, appliances, computer monitors, paint or oil cans and no construction materials. Please follow the rules. There will be two bins available.
