Happy Feet to offer education on podiatry care

Jamestown, ND — A JRMC U will offer education about care of the feet including hammertoes, blisters, bunions and more.

The JRMC U: Happy Feet is set for 11 a.m., Thursday, April 13. The event will help people understand why healthy feet are vital to overall health.

“Feet are the foundation,” said Podiatrist/Foot & Ankle Surgeon Dr. Rachael Renschler. “Pain may indicate something more. We want to help people understand their feet and how to care for them.”

“We hope to help people understand their options,” Dr. Renschler said. “Whether it is choosing the best shoe, how to do special stretches or how our medical center can help – we hope people walk away with information that supports them and their families.”

Drs. Emter and Renschler are members of the comprehensive Orthopedics team. That team includes Orthopedic Surgeons Drs. Michael T. Dean and Timothy Volk as well as Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner Crystal Krapp and Physician Assistant Patrick Walter.

Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) is collaborating with Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) this year to offer monthly opportunities to learn (right from local providers!) about common health issues.

Dr. Renschler said she hopes to answer questions regarding at-home remedies, as well as medications and surgical options.

Common questions people ask are: “What’s normal?” and “When do I see a doctor?” Individuals can ask questions privately and in advance at info@jrmcnd.com.

The event is free of charge and includes a light lunch.

JRMC U classes offered monthly JRMC offers virtual and in-person learning opportunities throughout the year. Called JRMC U classes, these events help individuals make informed choices about their health.

“We care about this community. If we can offer learning opportunities like this, people can find home-based solutions for their needs. If that doesn’t work, individuals can at least learn what treatment options are available,” said JRMC President & CEO Mike Delfs. “Missing work and life to see a doctor can be a challenge, so we want to remove as many barriers as we can.”

On average, more than 20 people attend each of the JRMC U events. Some classes even welcome 40 and 50 attendees.

“That tells us that people crave this information,” he said. “They might be out there, not living life to the fullest, and they don’t have too. Education about at-home and in-clinic treatment options is available, from providers you can trust.”

The JRMC U: Happy Feet is in-person and at TRAC because that is convenient for the people who often need this care, Delfs said.

All events are set for 11 a.m. Attendees do not need to be TRAC members to attend.
