KLJ’s Chad Petersen earns Trailblazer Award

KLJ Engineering (KLJ) is pleased to announce that Chad Petersen, Senior Project Manager in Valley City, was recently honored with the 2022 North Country Trail Association’s (NCTA) Trailblazer Award. The award recognizes businesses and individuals who represent a forward-thinking vision and demonstrates invaluable support to the NCTA and the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST), the longest trail in the National Trail System stretching 4,800 miles across eight states from North Dakota to Vermont.

Petersen has more than 25 years of experience and is a licensed professional engineer in ND, MN, and WY. Petersen has been influential in assisting the Sheyenne River Valley’s Chapter of the NCNST in North Dakota. KLJ is proud to have helped develop 93 easements on the route, mapped 90 miles of the pathway, coordinated public involvement, provided engineering services and signage, and implemented protection and construction on the notable trail.

Petersen joined KLJ in 1997 and has vast experience in management and design of all phases of rural and urban transportation projects including project corridor studies, environmental documentation, public involvement, and roadway design and construction management. He has expertise working with departments of transportation (DOT), cities, state, and federal officials.

The NCTA is a non-profit organization that’s mission is to develop, maintain, protect, and promote the North County National Scenic Trail and is comprised of a trail-wide coalition of volunteers and partnerships.
