Post 60 Royals Picks Up 1st Region Victory Over Kindred

Game 1 (Valley City 3, Kindred 7)

Valley City Post 60 Royals Can't Catch Up To Kindred Post 117 Vikings.

Valley City Post 60 Royals took the lead early but watched the game slip away and couldn't recover in a 7-3 loss to Kindred Post 117 Vikings during last Friday night’s contest.

Post 60 took a 1-0 lead after an RBI single by Braxton Jorissen drove in Gavin Gerhardt. Kindred Post 117 Vikings bounced back with 2 runs of their own, scoring on an RBI single by Nick Thompson and a wild pitch by Braxton Jorissen.

Kindred Post 117 added onto their lead, scoring 4 runs in the 4th inning and another run in the 5th inning. Carter Schmitz, Ethan McKenney, Oakley DuBord, and Thompson all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the innings, which brought the score to 7-1 in favor of Kindred.

Post 60 threatened in the 6th inning, but it wasn’t enough as the final score ends up Kindred 7, Valley City 3.

Braxton Jorissen toed the rubber for Valley City Post 60 Royals. The righty allowed five hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out six.

Logan Myers was the winning pitcher for Kindred Post 117 Vikings. The righty allowed six hits and three runs over six and twothirds innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Jorissen also led Valley City Post 60 Royals with three hits in three at bats.

Caleb Klabunde went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Kindred Post 117 Vikings in hits. Kindred Post 117 Vikings stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Graham Glasoe led the way with three.

Game 2 (Valley City 7, Kindred 3)

Valley City Post 60 Royals get their first region win of the year against Kindred in the 2nd game of the doubleheader. Adam Bitz was a workhorse on the mound and gets credited with the first win of the year.

Kindred Post 117 Vikings got things moving in the first inning. Kindred Post 117 scored one run when Nick Thompson doubled.

Valley City Post 60 started their scoring in the 3rd inning on a 2-out 2-run double by Ethan Miller. Broden Muske scored on a passed ball the next at bat, which made the score 3-1 Post 60 after top of 3. Kindred bounced back with one of their own to make it 3-2 after 3 innings.

Post 60 added to their lead in the 4th, 5th, and 6th inning on hits by Joe Cummings, Adam Bitz, Gavin Gerhardt, and a Sacrifice Fly by Tate Sufficool. After 6 innings, Post 60 held a lead of 7-1.

Kindred Post 117 made Valley City work for it in the bottom of the 7th inning by filling the bases loaded to start the inning. Bitz made it out of the inning by only giving up 2 runs. Bitz ended it by striking out McKenney and got DuBord out on a pop out.

Adam Bitz was credited with the victory for Valley City Post 60 Royals. The righthander allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking one.

Nick Thompson took the loss for Kindred Post 117 Vikings. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Joe Cummings went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Valley City Post 60 Royals in hits.
